Book the dock and elevator as one appointment

Loading access

Get the truck position and arrival instructions from the property.

Vertical access

Make the elevator reservation cover the same working period as the loading slot.

Building contact

Name the contact who can resolve access questions while the move is underway.

Find your fit

The move needs a slot that fits the work

A building appointment can be the main constraint on a Downtown move. Match the booked service to the time and access the property allows.

Moving between two managed buildings

Obtain instructions for both properties, including approved entrances and the elevators used for moving. Forward the document requirements and available slots to Milvus. A morning reservation at pickup and an incompatible delivery slot need resolving before the date is set.

Packing before the appointment

If you need extensive packing, discuss when it will take place. A limited elevator booking is easier to plan when the cartons and furniture preparation are accounted for. Separate the items you will pack from those you want Milvus to prepare.

A temporary address before the final home

Decide which belongings you need at the temporary property and which can be stored. Make two clear inventories and include the eventual delivery destination when available. That keeps essential items accessible during the transition.

Discount, Regular, Subpeak, Peak and Highpeak are date categories. Ask which applies to your move. Minimum hours, billable travel, materials and additional services must be confirmed in your estimate.

The household rate needs to be considered with the estimated work and agreed services. Confirm the date category, minimums, billable travel and packing charges for your booking.

Loading restrictions, long corridors and additional stops should be described before the estimate is finalized. Request a separate review for a commercial move.

Put the loading dock and elevator on the same schedule

Find out where the truck can stop and which entrance the crew must use. If the elevator needs a reservation, obtain its available hours before booking the move.

A move-in date does not necessarily include a loading appointment. Get the property contact responsible for approval and send any certificate-of-insurance instructions.

Compare those arrangements with the other building. A narrow time slot at either end needs to be part of the moving plan from the outset.

Prepare the receiving contact and street access

Name someone who can provide access throughout unloading and direct furniture to the correct rooms. Share the inventory and building contact with them, particularly if you cannot be there yourself.

If the truck will use reserved curb space rather than private loading, follow Boston's moving-truck parking instructions. Agree who will arrange the application and signs.

Discuss storage if the receiving appointment falls after the old property must be cleared. Review storage, handling and later delivery in the original plan.

Match the inventory to the route through the building

Measure large furniture against elevator doors and corridor turns. Send photos of a tight entrance and identify pieces that need disassembly.

For a household, list furniture and carton quantities, including items in a separate storage space. Ask about packing for screens, mirrors and fragile kitchen contents.

For an office, provide the workstations, furniture and equipment along with the operating schedule. Separate the physical move from IT shutdown and reconnection tasks, and use the commercial service to review the scope.

The details that matter

A loading dock is only the start of the access route

Check the route from the dock or curb to the service elevator, then from the elevator to the apartment. Locked doors, a long corridor and a small lift can affect the handling even when the truck has a convenient place to stop. Building instructions should identify who provides access on the day.

Ask management about move documentation early and share the exact request with Milvus for review. Do not assume the concierge can approve an unannounced move or that a visitor parking space can accommodate a moving truck. The plan should identify a workable receiving appointment and a contact who can open the property.

Downtown moving questions

Can I use a loading dock without telling management?

Obtain the property's approved loading process and any required appointment. Do not assume a dock is available for your move.

Can Milvus quote an office relocation?

Provide the business inventory, access and operating requirements for a commercial moving estimate.

Can packing be included?

Specify the rooms or items and request suitable labor and materials in the scope.

Can I reserve the elevator before getting a quote?

You can check available slots, but share them with Milvus before committing to the moving appointment. The amount of packing, loading and travel needs to fit the access at both buildings.

What if the building gives me a very short delivery window?

Provide the inventory and the actual window when requesting the estimate. Milvus can review the crew and access needed. A short slot is a planning constraint, not a guarantee that every size of shipment can be unloaded within it.
