Delicate furniture components arranged for packing
Plan the furniture and its removable components together.
Start with the pieces that need preparation

Include removable parts in the furniture plan

A dining table may have leaves, a cabinet may have loose shelves, and a bed may need dismantling before it can leave the room. Show Milvus the assembled piece and explain any removable or delicate components.

Agree on who will prepare each item and what reassembly is included. Keep identified fittings with their furniture and tell the crew about existing damage or a component that should not be removed.

For larger or delicate pieces, send dimensions and photographs of the access. The plan needs to cover the item, its protection and the route into the receiving room.

Choose where professional packing helps

Build the scope around the contents

Delicate household items

Identify glassware, lamps, artwork and other accepted contents needing individual preparation.

Busy rooms

Add the cupboards and loose contents of a kitchen, bedroom or office you want packed.

The agreed household

Include stored belongings as well as the main rooms and arrange enough preparation time before loading.

Some items need their own assessment

Flag a piano or unusually heavy piece early

Include the item’s type, dimensions, condition and access in the first request. A piano or unusually heavy object should be assessed as a specific task rather than hidden inside a general furniture count.

Show stairs, turns and the intended receiving location. Milvus can review the handling and preparation needed before the work is added to the moving scope.

Rates and your estimate

Wellesley local moving rates

Milvus publishes five date categories for local moving. The table shows the hourly rate for a crew with a truck. Confirm the category for your date and the complete booking terms before accepting your estimate.

Date category2 movers + truck3 movers + truck4 movers + truck
Discount$110/hr$160/hr$210/hr
Regular$120/hr$170/hr$220/hr
Subpeak$150/hr$200/hr$250/hr
Peak$180/hr$230/hr$280/hr
Highpeak$260/hr$360/hr$460/hr

Additional mover and additional truck rates are $55/hour each in the Discount category, $65/hour each in Regular, Subpeak and Peak, and $75/hour each in Highpeak. Ask which crew and vehicle arrangement fits your inventory.

The hourly rate is one part of the estimate. Confirm minimum billable time, travel, packing labor and materials, access-related work and any other applicable charges. A move is not booked by viewing these rates.

Two estimates need the same scope

Compare preparation and moving time together

What is being moved

Use the same inventory, date, crew, addresses and access when comparing quotes. Include agreed dismantling and reassembly.

How the total is calculated

Milvus is based in Waltham. Review travel, minimum billing, packing labor and materials, extra stops and applicable additional charges.

Plan both ends of the move

Check the route for the larger furniture

At pickupAt delivery
A usable vehicle position and driveway clearanceA lawful loading place and room to reach the entrance
Exterior steps and internal stair turnsDoorways and turns leading to the intended room
Belongings in basements or other storage areasRooms available to receive those groups
Building instructions and moving hoursKeys, recipient, reservations and any required paperwork

If the proposed loading location is on a street, check current signs and town guidance. Wellesley’s public parking page covers its parking districts; private property instructions must be checked separately.

When the dates do not line up

Arrange storage and the later handover

  1. Choose the stored group

Separate belongings you will need with you from the inventory going into storage.

  2. Review the storage terms

Discuss duration, conditions, access and handling charges before pickup.

  3. Confirm redelivery

Give the new address and review timing, access, recipient and redelivery charges.

Questions before you book

A few more details

Have a different situation? Call 857-895-8955 and talk it through with Milvus.

Can Milvus move a Wellesley household with delicate furniture?

Describe the pieces, construction, condition and access for assessment. Agree on specific protection, preparation and handling before the appointment.

Should I dismantle furniture before the movers arrive?

First agree on responsibilities with Milvus. Some pieces may need preparation; others may be better assessed intact. Keep fittings identified with the item.

Can packing cover only selected rooms?

Yes. Specify the rooms and contents, and review materials, labor and preparation timing.

Can a piano be included?

Request a piano assessment with type, dimensions, condition, stairs and access. Confirm the handling scope before adding it to the ordinary household plan.

How do I understand the full moving cost?

Review the date category, crew, billable time, travel, materials, preparation and applicable additional charges against the same inventory.

Can you arrange storage before my next property is ready?

Discuss it before collection, including duration, conditions, access, handling and later delivery charges.
