Brookline Movers

A Brookline apartment move starts at the curb, passes through the building and finishes inside the new rooms. Milvus helps connect those three parts: lawful loading access, the stairs or elevator, and furniture prepared for the route. Add packing or storage when you need it.

  • Apartment, condo and household moves
  • Stair and elevator access planned together
  • Packing for selected items or the home

Begin at the curb

Use Brookline’s moving-sign process when reserving street space

Brookline publishes a specific process for temporary no-parking signs used on moving days. Its guidance currently says to post the signs after 6 p.m. the evening before the move and remove them afterwards. Metered spaces have a separate rental charge.

Confirm the space needed with Milvus, then check the town’s current application, placement and fee instructions. The rules prohibit blocking bike lanes, crosswalks, driveways and accessible parking. A container placed on the street requires a different occupancy process.

Agree on who will obtain and post the signs. Purchasing signs does not replace following the placement rules or arranging the building’s own moving access.

Interior layout and belongings prepared for a household move
Confirm both the elevator arrangement and the route between it and the apartment.
Inside the building

The elevator is only one part of the route

Measure the elevator opening and usable interior, then look at the turn between the lift and your apartment. A long sofa or rigid table can encounter a restriction in the corridor even if it fits inside the elevator.

Ask whether the building requires a service lift, protective pads, an attendant or a booked time window. Pass the actual instructions to Milvus rather than simply noting that the building has an elevator.

For a walk-up, photograph the landings and the approaches at the top and bottom. Explain low ceilings, fixed rails and furniture that was assembled in the room. The same information is needed for the receiving property.

Choose the right access details

Describe your home without guessing at the moving work

Walk-up apartment

Include the floor, stair turns, exterior steps and distance from truck to entrance. Identify the largest and heaviest pieces early.

Managed condo or apartment

Provide the building’s reservation and paperwork requirements. Check who approves the appointment and whether another move uses the same service area.

House or multi-level home

Include the driveway, basement, upstairs rooms and furniture preparation. A private entrance does not remove the need to review clearances.

Rates and your estimate

Brookline local moving rates, with the date category visible

Milvus publishes five date categories for local moving. The table shows the hourly rate for a crew with a truck. Confirm the category for your date and the complete booking terms before accepting your estimate.

Date category2 movers + truck3 movers + truck4 movers + truck
Discount$110/hr$160/hr$210/hr
Regular$120/hr$170/hr$220/hr
Subpeak$150/hr$200/hr$250/hr
Peak$180/hr$230/hr$280/hr
Highpeak$260/hr$360/hr$460/hr

Additional mover and additional truck rates are $55/hour each in the Discount category, $65/hour each in Regular, Subpeak and Peak, and $75/hour each in Highpeak. Ask which crew and vehicle arrangement fits your inventory.

The hourly rate is one part of the estimate. Confirm minimum billable time, travel, packing labor and materials, access-related work and any other applicable charges. A move is not booked by viewing these rates.

Preparation before the reservation starts

Have the agreed load ready for collection

  • Close and label ordinary cartons

Use a room label the receiving person will recognise. Keep dense contents manageable and tell Milvus about any packing that will remain unfinished.

  • Identify fragile pieces

List art, mirrors, glass tops and delicate furniture. Discuss packing materials and handling before moving day rather than assuming a blanket is enough for every item.

  • Prepare furniture for the agreed scope

Confirm which beds, desks or shelving need disassembly and reassembly. Identify loose hardware and damaged joints before handling.

  • Keep common exits clear

Stage belongings inside your home without obstructing doors or shared corridors. Have children and pets away from the working route during loading.

When the dates do not meet

Decide what travels with you and what can wait

Your immediate essentials

Keep keys, documents, medication, chargers and an overnight bag with you. If another person receives the move, agree on access and room placement instructions beforehand.

Belongings going to storage

Create a separate inventory and discuss storage duration, handling and final delivery. Confirm availability and charges; a lease gap should not be left as an open question when the truck arrives.

Questions before you book

A few more details

Have a different situation? Call 857-895-8955 and talk it through with Milvus.

Can Milvus move from a Brookline walk-up?

Provide the floor, stairs, landings and furniture dimensions for review. The proposed crew and work should reflect the actual access at both homes.

Who is responsible for moving signs?

Agree on that responsibility while planning the move. Use Brookline’s current town instructions for obtaining, posting and removing the signs.

Does an elevator mean there is no carrying charge or extra work?

Do not assume that. Loading distance, lift availability, corridors and room access still affect the job. Confirm how access is reflected in your estimate.

Can you move only a few large furniture pieces?

Yes. List each piece, preparation needs and both addresses. Confirm the minimum billable time, travel and complete price calculation for the smaller load.

Can I request packing and storage together?

Include both in the request, along with the stored inventory and expected duration. Ask for packing, storage, handling and redelivery charges to be explained.

Are same-day or weekend appointments guaranteed?

No date is guaranteed until the appointment is confirmed. Contact Milvus with your preferred date and any building restrictions to discuss availability.
