A moving service that starts where your preparation stops

Furniture and packed cartons

You prepare the contents; Milvus handles the agreed moving inventory. Identify furniture requiring protection or disassembly.

Moving with selected packing

Add kitchenware, delicate contents or particular rooms. Have materials and packing labor included in the scope.

Packing and a household move

Walk through the whole home, including stored areas, and arrange preparation before loading.

An apartment with cartons prepared by room
Room groups and a separate essentials bag keep the receiving instructions simple.
Prepare the apartment without blocking it

Group belongings by destination and leave the route clear

Packing can take over a smaller apartment quickly. Keep finished cartons together inside the home, leaving doors and the carrying route available. Separate anything staying behind from the inventory being moved.

Identify the receiving room on each carton. If some belongings will go to storage or another address, make those groups clear and include them when requesting the quote. Keep keys, documents, medication and the essentials you need during the move with you.

Furniture needs its own preparation plan. Send dimensions of large pieces, note existing damage and explain anything assembled in the room. Agree on dismantling and reassembly before removing components.

Access determines the carrying work

Describe the route from the room to the vehicle

Part of the routeUseful details for the estimate
Inside the homeFurniture dimensions, narrow doors and items assembled in place
Stairs and landingsActual flights, exterior steps, tight turns and low ceilings
Common entranceDoor access, shared hallway and building moving hours
Loading positionAvailable space, carrying distance and any property restrictions

A short drive between homes can still involve substantial carrying and preparation. Photos of the difficult sections help Milvus review the work before the appointment. Check the actual street signs and building arrangements for the vehicle position.

Rates and your estimate

Published rates for New Bedford local moves

Milvus publishes five date categories for local moving. The table shows the hourly rate for a crew with a truck. Confirm the category for your date and the complete booking terms before accepting your estimate.

Date category2 movers + truck3 movers + truck4 movers + truck
Discount$110/hr$160/hr$210/hr
Regular$120/hr$170/hr$220/hr
Subpeak$150/hr$200/hr$250/hr
Peak$180/hr$230/hr$280/hr
Highpeak$260/hr$360/hr$460/hr

Additional mover and additional truck rates are $55/hour each in the Discount category, $65/hour each in Regular, Subpeak and Peak, and $75/hour each in Highpeak. Ask which crew and vehicle arrangement fits your inventory.

The hourly rate is one part of the estimate. Confirm minimum billable time, travel, packing labor and materials, access-related work and any other applicable charges. A move is not booked by viewing these rates.

Understand the full appointment

Have travel and preparation explained with the hourly rate

Milvus is based in Waltham. For a New Bedford move, ask how the complete route affects billable time, including travel to and from the job. Confirm the date category, crew, vehicle arrangement and minimum billing in the estimate.

Choose packing from the contents you actually need help with. Include supplies, labor, furniture preparation and any applicable access-related charges. If you compare estimates, use the same inventory, addresses and service scope for each one.

For an out-of-state destination, request an interstate estimate and delivery arrangement. The local rate table does not establish the total price for a long-distance route.

Set the receiving plan before collection

Know who can accept the load and when

  1. Confirm the next property

Check keys, moving hours, truck access and whether the recipient can be present.

  2. Share fixed windows

Give Milvus any departure deadline or reserved building appointment so availability and timing can be discussed.

  3. Plan for a gap

If direct delivery is not possible, discuss storage and its conditions, access, handling and redelivery charges before collection.
