Pack your own contents
Estimate the finished cartons and identify fragile items that still need attention. List furniture and any remaining preparation alongside them.

Milvus moves Melrose apartments and households, with packing for the rooms you choose and storage between homes. Send the furniture list and access details, including larger pieces that need room at doors or stair landings.
Your estimate depends on the items, access and services you need.
Prefer to talk? 857-895-8955Measure the furniture, including fixed arms, legs and projections. Identify removable parts and anything assembled in place.
Check usable door openings, hall turns, stair landings and low ceilings. Send photographs where the route is tight.
Include porch steps, path width, slope and the carrying distance to a usable truck position.
Repeat the check for the receiving property. A piece that leaves one house easily may need a different plan at the next.

A straight stair flight and a turn at the landing are different parts of the same route. Explain both to Milvus, including the ceiling above the turn and any fixed railing that limits space. Share the furniture dimensions before deciding that it can travel in one piece.
Have the required disassembly and any reassembly agreed in the estimate. If you remove components yourself, identify fittings with the relevant furniture and discuss how the parts should be packed.
Tell Milvus about delicate finishes, loose joints or existing damage. Protection and handling should match the item and the property. Moving work does not automatically include repairing furniture or altering a building to create access.

Choose delicate belongings, selected rooms or the household. Agree on materials, labor and timing before moving day.
Melrose’s Parking Office publishes street and lot restrictions, including overnight parking guidance. For the moving appointment, check the signs at the actual loading location and confirm the arrangement with the appropriate authority or property manager.
A household driveway or an ordinary parking space is not automatically suitable for the truck. Describe the approach, surface and available room, and ask how the crew will reach the entrance if loading must happen farther away.
Milvus publishes five date categories for local moving. The table shows the hourly rate for a crew with a truck. Confirm the category for your date and the complete booking terms before accepting your estimate.
| Date category | 2 movers + truck | 3 movers + truck | 4 movers + truck |
|---|---|---|---|
| Discount | $110/hr | $160/hr | $210/hr |
| Regular | $120/hr | $170/hr | $220/hr |
| Subpeak | $150/hr | $200/hr | $250/hr |
| Peak | $180/hr | $230/hr | $280/hr |
| Highpeak | $260/hr | $360/hr | $460/hr |
Additional mover and additional truck rates are $55/hour each in the Discount category, $65/hour each in Regular, Subpeak and Peak, and $75/hour each in Highpeak. Ask which crew and vehicle arrangement fits your inventory.
The hourly rate is one part of the estimate. Confirm minimum billable time, travel, packing labor and materials, access-related work and any other applicable charges. A move is not booked by viewing these rates.
| Part of the move | Confirm in the estimate |
|---|---|
| Crew and truck | Date category and arrangement for the inventory |
| Time and travel | Minimum billing and complete billable-time calculation |
| Preparation | Packing labor, supplies and agreed furniture work |
| Access | Stairs, carrying distance and applicable additional work |
| Extra destination | Address, inventory and receiving arrangements |
Milvus is based in Waltham. Ask how travel is calculated for your Melrose route. If the destination is outside Massachusetts, request an interstate quote instead of applying the local hourly figures.

Agree on preparation first. Have required disassembly and assembly identified in the estimate, and keep any owner-removed parts with the relevant piece.
Yes. Specify the room and its contents and confirm packing labor, supplies and timing with the move.
Have the complete travel and billable-time calculation explained. Milvus is based in Waltham; the street distance between your homes is not the whole appointment.
Check current local restrictions and confirm a suitable loading arrangement. Tell Milvus the position and carrying distance before booking.
Discuss the inventory and dates in advance, including storage conditions, access, handling and final delivery.
Send both addresses, dates and your inventory. Add photographs of difficult turns, larger furniture and the loading approach.
