Trace the route for your three largest items
In the room
Measure the furniture, including fixed arms, legs and projections. Identify removable parts and anything assembled in place.
Through the building
Check usable door openings, hall turns, stair landings and low ceilings. Send photographs where the route is tight.
Outside the entrance
Include porch steps, path width, slope and the carrying distance to a usable truck position.
Into the next home
Repeat the check for the receiving property. A piece that leaves one house easily may need a different plan at the next.

A landing can decide how a piece is prepared
A straight stair flight and a turn at the landing are different parts of the same route. Explain both to Milvus, including the ceiling above the turn and any fixed railing that limits space. Share the furniture dimensions before deciding that it can travel in one piece.
Have the required disassembly and any reassembly agreed in the estimate. If you remove components yourself, identify fittings with the relevant furniture and discuss how the parts should be packed.
Tell Milvus about delicate finishes, loose joints or existing damage. Protection and handling should match the item and the property. Moving work does not automatically include repairing furniture or altering a building to create access.

Check the street rules before the appointment
Melrose’s Parking Office publishes street and lot restrictions, including overnight parking guidance. For the moving appointment, check the signs at the actual loading location and confirm the arrangement with the appropriate authority or property manager.
A household driveway or an ordinary parking space is not automatically suitable for the truck. Describe the approach, surface and available room, and ask how the crew will reach the entrance if loading must happen farther away.

The hourly rate is one part of the estimate. Confirm minimum billable time, travel, packing labor and materials, access-related work and any other applicable charges. A move is not booked by viewing these rates.
