Interior layout and belongings prepared for a household move
Keep removable components identified with the furniture they belong to.
Start with the pieces that need thought

A table is more than its tabletop

List removable leaves, glass inserts, detachable legs and other components with the main item. Note which parts come apart normally and which joints are loose or damaged. Explain that condition while the inventory is reviewed.

For pieces you have already disassembled, keep hardware identified and components together. Ask how a delicate finish or older construction should be prepared before adding adhesive or wrapping materials yourself.

Describe the route out of the room and the intended room at delivery. Preparation, carrying and placement should follow the same plan, especially when a large item has to pass through several narrow openings.

Before the estimate is complete

Flag the belongings that need an individual discussion

  • Antiques and delicate finishes

Photograph the item and point out loose joints, existing damage or vulnerable ornament. Describe the concern directly rather than assuming the age of the piece tells the whole story.

  • Framed art and mirrors

Provide dimensions and any fragile framing or glazing. Ask about appropriate packing and materials; keep condition records with your moving documents.

  • Pianos and unusually heavy pieces

Identify the type, approximate size and access route. These items need their own handling discussion before a household crew and appointment are agreed.

  • Furniture assembled inside

Explain how the piece originally reached the room. Share dimensions, stair turns and any alternative door, without assuming an unusual exit is already part of the service.

Rates and your estimate

Published local rates for your Concord moving date

Milvus publishes five date categories for local moving. The table shows the hourly rate for a crew with a truck. Confirm the category for your date and the complete booking terms before accepting your estimate.

Date category2 movers + truck3 movers + truck4 movers + truck
Discount$110/hr$160/hr$210/hr
Regular$120/hr$170/hr$220/hr
Subpeak$150/hr$200/hr$250/hr
Peak$180/hr$230/hr$280/hr
Highpeak$260/hr$360/hr$460/hr

Additional mover and additional truck rates are $55/hour each in the Discount category, $65/hour each in Regular, Subpeak and Peak, and $75/hour each in Highpeak. Ask which crew and vehicle arrangement fits your inventory.

The hourly rate is one part of the estimate. Confirm minimum billable time, travel, packing labor and materials, access-related work and any other applicable charges. A move is not booked by viewing these rates.

A full household or a smaller load

Choose the inventory you want moved

The whole home

Include main rooms, upper floors, basement, garage and stored belongings. Add packing, disassembly and receiving-side requirements so the estimate accounts for the entire household.

Selected furniture or rooms

List the exact pieces and destinations. A smaller move still needs access and billing terms reviewed. Identify any extra pickup or delivery address before the route is planned.

Connect the rooms to the truck

Managed receiving propertyMoving hours, elevator reservation and required documents

Milvus operates from Waltham. Confirm travel, minimum billable time and the full calculation for the Concord appointment. A convenient driveway or short distance does not by itself determine the total moving charge.

Choose the preparation

Use packing help for the actual belongings

Selected delicate items

Request the pieces you want professionally prepared, with labor and materials specified. Tell Milvus what you plan to pack yourself.

A room or the household

If you need broader help, discuss the inventory and packing schedule before pickup is arranged. Keep daily essentials available until moving day.

Items going into storage

Identify the stored group and expected duration. Confirm conditions, handling, access and later delivery before deciding what can remain with the load.

At the receiving home

Choose the location before the larger pieces arrive

Check the room layout and identify positions for larger furniture. Keep the area clear for any agreed reassembly and provide room labels that the receiving person can follow.

Moving, furniture placement and any agreed assembly are distinct from restoration, picture hanging, electrical work or piano tuning. Arrange those tasks separately where needed, and avoid scheduling another contractor to use the same narrow entrance during delivery. For a destination outside Massachusetts, include the receiving requirements in an interstate estimate.

Questions before you book

A few more details

Have a different situation? Call 857-895-8955 and talk it through with Milvus.

Can Milvus move only a few furniture pieces from Concord?

Yes. List the exact pieces, preparation needs and destination. Confirm the crew, minimum billable time, travel and any additional stop in the estimate.

How should I describe antique furniture?

Provide photos, dimensions and known condition concerns, including fragile finishes or loose joints. Ask for the preparation and handling to be discussed for that item.

Should I take a table apart before moving day?

Confirm the agreed preparation first. If you dismantle it yourself, keep identified hardware and components together and explain any existing damage.

Are art packing and piano moving included automatically?

Identify those items in advance and request the relevant work. Their preparation and handling should be reviewed separately within the overall move plan.

Can furniture go into storage while my new home is finished?

Discuss the inventory, likely duration and delivery address. Confirm storage availability, conditions, handling and redelivery charges before pickup.

Will Milvus restore or install delicate items after delivery?

Do not assume restoration, wall mounting, trade work or piano tuning is part of the move. Confirm the moving and assembly scope and arrange specialist work separately.
