Belmont Movers

A sofa can fit the living room and still be difficult to move through the hall. Milvus plans Belmont moves around the furniture and the route it must take, with packing, disassembly and delivery requirements discussed before the appointment.

Measure more than the doorway

Follow the largest piece all the way to the truck

Start with the sofa, tall cabinet, large desk or other rigid piece most likely to determine the carrying route. Note its dimensions and whether parts can be removed. A photograph should show the whole item, not just the side facing the room.

Then follow the exit: room opening, hall, turn, stairs, exterior door and path to parking. The narrowest opening matters, but so does the space available to turn before reaching it. Send photos from both sides of a difficult corner.

Tell Milvus if a piece was assembled inside, brought through a different entrance or previously difficult to move. Do not assume that an upper window or hoisting operation is part of a normal household appointment; discuss unusual access separately.

Build the preparation into the quote

Different belongings need different packing decisions

Books and ordinary cartons

Split dense contents into manageable boxes and label them by room. Count the finished cartons rather than estimating only from the number of shelves.

Art, mirrors and glass

Identify size, fragility and any existing condition concerns. Ask about the preparation and materials suited to the specific item; a loose framed work needs more planning than an ordinary packed carton.

Wood furniture and antiques

Point out delicate finishes, loose joints and removable components. Describe any sentimental or unusual piece while the inventory is being reviewed, before the moving method is agreed.

Parking and property access

Check the rules for the actual loading place

A driveway can simplify loading if its entrance, clearance and turning space suit the proposed truck. Send a view from the street and show any slope or overhead obstruction. For a shared drive, agree with the other occupants on when it can be used.

If loading depends on the street, consult Belmont’s current parking guidance and the posted restrictions for that address. The town publishes separate daytime, overnight and winter rules. Do not treat ordinary parking permission as a reservation of the space a truck needs.

For a condo, include management’s moving hours, entrance instructions and any paperwork request. Resolve the same details at delivery, particularly if the new building has an elevator or reserved service area.

Rates and your estimate

Belmont moving rates: match the date to the crew

Milvus publishes five date categories for local moving. The table shows the hourly rate for a crew with a truck. Confirm the category for your date and the complete booking terms before accepting your estimate.

Date category2 movers + truck3 movers + truck4 movers + truck
Discount$110/hr$160/hr$210/hr
Regular$120/hr$170/hr$220/hr
Subpeak$150/hr$200/hr$250/hr
Peak$180/hr$230/hr$280/hr
Highpeak$260/hr$360/hr$460/hr

Additional mover and additional truck rates are $55/hour each in the Discount category, $65/hour each in Regular, Subpeak and Peak, and $75/hour each in Highpeak. Ask which crew and vehicle arrangement fits your inventory.

The hourly rate is one part of the estimate. Confirm minimum billable time, travel, packing labor and materials, access-related work and any other applicable charges. A move is not booked by viewing these rates.

Choose the right scope

Moving the home, or only part of it?

A complete Belmont household

Include every room, storage space and outdoor item that is moving. If you need packing or a gap before delivery, discuss those appointments together with the household transport.

A smaller furniture move

List the exact pieces and any additional pickup address. A short load still needs parking, clearance and receiving access considered. Confirm minimum billable time and travel in the estimate rather than judging the cost from the item count alone.

Plan the receiving rooms

Give larger pieces a destination before unloading

BelongingDecision before deliveryUseful preparation
Bed and mattressWhich bedroom receives each set?Keep hardware identified and confirm reassembly scope
Sofa and dining furnitureWill the layout leave a usable walking route?Check room dimensions and remove small obstacles
Fragile or valuable household piecesWhere can the item be placed without further handling?Identify a clear location and discuss any separate installation
BoxesWhich room and floor should each group reach?Use consistent destination labels

Room placement can be part of the moving discussion. Decorating, wall mounting, restoration and trade work are separate tasks unless expressly arranged.

Questions before you book

A few more details

Have a different situation? Call 857-895-8955 and talk it through with Milvus.

Can you help assess a tight Belmont stairway?

Send photos of the stairs, landings and approaches, plus the dimensions of the relevant furniture. Milvus can discuss the access and proposed work before booking.

Is disassembly automatically included for every item?

Identify the pieces that need it and confirm disassembly and reassembly in the service scope. Some furniture or specialist equipment may need separate preparation.

Can I request packing only for art and mirrors?

Yes. List the pieces and their dimensions, and ask for appropriate labor and materials to be included in the estimate.

Does a Belmont street parking permit reserve the truck’s space?

Do not assume it does. Check the current rules for the actual location and confirm any loading arrangement with the responsible authority or property manager.

Can the move include storage while work is done at my next home?

Discuss the expected duration, stored inventory and final delivery access. Confirm availability, storage conditions, handling and redelivery charges before pickup.

Do you have a Belmont office?

Milvus is based in Waltham and accepts Belmont moving requests. Use the pickup and delivery addresses in your quote request and confirm the travel arrangements for the appointment.
