Fragile rooms and individual pieces
Ask for help with kitchen breakables, mirrors, framed art or another defined group. Share the inventory so the materials and packing labor can be included.

A family move works better when the new home has a plan before the old one is packed. Milvus helps Andover households organize furniture, packing and delivery by room, with access and timing reviewed at both properties. Tell us what is moving, what is staying and which rooms you want working first.
Your estimate depends on the items, access and services you need.

Walk through bedrooms, the kitchen, workspaces and storage areas before requesting your quote. Count larger furniture and estimate the cartons in each space. Include belongings in the garage, attic and basement if they are moving.
Look for pieces that need a separate conversation: a piano, stone tabletop, large mirror, exercise machine or fragile cabinet. Share dimensions and photographs, especially if the piece has to leave an upper floor.
At the new home, decide which rooms receive the main furniture. A clear destination for a bed, desk or sofa reduces decisions while the crew is carrying it through the property.
| Belongings | A practical receiving instruction |
|---|---|
| Beds and bedroom furniture | Name the room and floor, and identify any assembly included in the booking. |
| Home-office equipment | Separate packed electronics, desks and parts. Keep work essentials you need immediately with you. |
| Kitchen and everyday boxes | Use consistent room labels and identify the cartons you will open first. |
| Storage, garage and seasonal items | Specify the receiving space instead of treating every unassigned box as basement storage. |
If a room is being renovated or its floors are not ready, tell Milvus before delivery. Agree on an alternative placement or storage arrangement while the service is being planned.
Show the driveway entrance, usable space, slope and overhead clearance. Confirm how other vehicles will leave access available.
Include steps, a porch, a side entrance or a longer carry from the truck. Photograph the approach as well as the front door.
Show the usable doorway openings, hallway corners and stair landings. Furniture needs to pass through the route with suitable protection.
For an apartment or condo, obtain management’s moving instructions, elevator reservation and required paperwork before choosing the appointment.
Milvus publishes five date categories for local moving. The table shows the hourly rate for a crew with a truck. Confirm the category for your date and the complete booking terms before accepting your estimate.
| Date category | 2 movers + truck | 3 movers + truck | 4 movers + truck |
|---|---|---|---|
| Discount | $110/hr | $160/hr | $210/hr |
| Regular | $120/hr | $170/hr | $220/hr |
| Subpeak | $150/hr | $200/hr | $250/hr |
| Peak | $180/hr | $230/hr | $280/hr |
| Highpeak | $260/hr | $360/hr | $460/hr |
Additional mover and additional truck rates are $55/hour each in the Discount category, $65/hour each in Regular, Subpeak and Peak, and $75/hour each in Highpeak. Ask which crew and vehicle arrangement fits your inventory.
The hourly rate is one part of the estimate. Confirm minimum billable time, travel, packing labor and materials, access-related work and any other applicable charges. A move is not booked by viewing these rates.
Ask for help with kitchen breakables, mirrors, framed art or another defined group. Share the inventory so the materials and packing labor can be included.
If you want more rooms packed, discuss the timing before moving day. Keep personal records, medication and immediate essentials separate from the moving cartons.
When access to the new home is delayed, request storage together with pickup and redelivery. Confirm the items, conditions, duration, charges and any access you will need.
Choose who will provide access at pickup and who can confirm room placement at delivery. That person should have the inventory and know which pieces are staying behind. If the same person must travel between addresses, discuss the handover timing in advance.
Tell the team about a firm closing, lease or building deadline. Keep those time limits separate from preferences so the appointment can be planned around what is fixed.
Milvus can review an Andover move toward North Andover, Lawrence, other Massachusetts towns or a more distant destination. Provide the complete route and service needs for the estimate. Longer trips and interstate moves require their own transport and delivery discussion.

Yes. Include the belongings and access for those spaces in the inventory. Describe stairs, hatch access or any heavy items so the handling can be assessed.
Provide each piece’s room and floor, along with stairs or elevator details. The estimate should account for the receiving work, not just unloading at the entrance.
List the pieces and request the preparation and assembly work before booking. Confirm the agreed scope and keep the necessary hardware and instructions available.
Yes. Describe what needs packing and ask for the labor, materials and timing to be included in the quote.
Share the uncertainty before making the moving arrangement. Discuss scheduling options or storage, and confirm any applicable change or cancellation terms in writing.
Not necessarily. The useful crew size depends on the load and access. Compare the expected work and full estimate rather than assuming a larger crew will always reduce the total.
Send the addresses and inventory, including the spaces outside the main living rooms. We’ll help define the moving work.
