Start with HRA

Begin the assistance request with HRA

NYC311 explains that eligible Cash Assistance applicants and recipients who must move may be able to get help with moving expenses. The request is handled through HRA; submitting a quote form to Milvus is not a benefits application.

Use ACCESS HRA or contact a Benefits Access Center for the process that applies to your case. Ask what estimates, residence information and other documents are required before arranging the service.

The moving quote

Give the estimate a complete household picture

The number of bedrooms is a starting point, not a complete inventory. Include belongings in storage and anything at another pickup address. Tell Milvus about large pieces that may need disassembly or a different route through the building.

Addresses and access

Give the apartment number, floor, stairs and elevator information for both ends. Include any loading dock or service entrance requirement.

Belongings and requested work

List furniture and approximate boxes, plus packing, materials or storage you want quoted. Confirm the handling of fragile or unusually heavy items.

Dates and contacts

Share the desired date, the earliest you can receive delivery and who will coordinate the estimate with HRA. Avoid sharing unrelated personal records in an initial quote request.

Authorization & booking

Move from a quote to a confirmed arrangement

  1. Prepare the estimate

Use the actual inventory, locations and requested services. Ask Milvus for the carrier details your case requires.

  2. Submit what HRA requests

HRA’s document guide describes estimates from licensed movers and agency selection of the company. Confirm that the proposed provider and services meet your case requirements.

  3. Confirm the authorized work

Check the company, scope, amount, date and invoicing or payment arrangements. A quote alone does not establish approval.

  4. Complete the move paperwork

Keep the moving documents. HRA’s guide identifies a Move Statement for the selected company to complete after the move for payment; follow the instructions for your case.

The elevator reservation is part of the moving plan

Ask building management which entrance and elevator the move must use. Confirm the time window, reservation process and any insurance-document requirements. Tell Milvus about long corridors and furniture that may not fit the elevator.

A short trip between boroughs can still involve substantial handling at both buildings. Describe pickup and delivery separately, including the distance between legal loading space and the door.

Additional needs

Address storage and changes before the crew arrives

Temporary storage

HRA has a separate storage process and may request an inventory. Ask the agency what applies, then confirm storage receiving, access and redelivery with the provider.

A changed inventory or destination

Tell Milvus and HRA before additional work is arranged. A different address, extra stop or more belongings may require a revised estimate and authorization.

Items you will carry yourself

Keep medicines, documents, keys and valuables accessible. Plan personal travel separately and identify who can receive the furniture at delivery.

Questions before you book

A few more details

Have a different situation? Call 857-895-8955 and talk it through with Milvus.

Is Milvus part of HRA?

Milvus is a moving company. HRA is the agency responsible for benefit eligibility, authorization and payment decisions.

Do I need a specific number of quotes?

Ask HRA for the requirements for your case. Its document guide refers to estimates from licensed moving companies; follow the instructions you receive.

Can you guarantee HRA will pay for the move?

No. Confirm the approved provider, work and payment arrangements with HRA before service. A moving estimate is not a funding decision.

Can I include packing in my request?

Ask Milvus to price the work you need and ask HRA whether it is covered. Do not assume all packing, materials or extra handling is authorized.

What if I already have an approved move date?

Contact Milvus with the date, inventory, addresses and authorization requirements. Confirm availability and the service arrangements before treating the booking as final.
