Planning your move with Milvus

Tell Milvus what needs to move, where it is going and which parts you want help with. Local and long-distance transport, packing, storage and specialty items can then be discussed as a defined scope before you book.

Local moving

Moving within the Boston area, with published hourly rate categories to help you start the discussion.

Packing

Help with selected belongings or broader packing needs, with materials and responsibilities agreed in the quote.

Storage

An option to discuss when the belongings must leave before the receiving home is ready.

Booking details and inventory
Describe delicate furniture and the preparation it needs when requesting your moving quote.

Specialty items belong in the first conversation

Include pianos, appliances, artwork, antiques and other items that may need special preparation. Give dimensions or photos where useful and explain the route through the home. An item’s weight is only part of the handling question; turns, stairs and vulnerable surfaces also matter.

Milvus has separate service pages for specialty moving. Use them to identify the relevant help, then ask for the item to be included in your actual scope. Do not assume every specialty task is automatically part of a standard room-count estimate.

Prepare the request

Send the addresses, inventory, dates and service needs

  • Addresses and access

Send both addresses, floors, stairs, elevators and the distance from a suitable truck position. Include building receiving rules and additional stops.

  • Inventory

List furniture and estimate the carton count. Mention storage areas, unusually large items and any agreed furniture disassembly.

  • Dates

Give the pickup date or a realistic range and the destination’s receiving window. Explain any gap between homes.

  • Services

State what you will pack yourself, what needs help and whether storage or specialty handling is required.

Use published prices as the starting point

Match the estimate to the services you need

The local moving page shows rate categories by crew size and date type. The Boston-to-New-York route, for example, publishes starting estimates from $890 for a studio or smaller household. Other routes have their own published examples.

Those figures help frame the quote request. Review the final inventory, access, materials and timing so you understand what the proposed price covers. Ask about any applicable minimum, travel charge, extra service or booking term that is not clear from the estimate.

Before confirming the booking

Keep the agreement clear

DetailWhat to check
Service scopeThe items, addresses, packing and other work included.
Pickup and deliveryThe date or window and the building access needed at each end.
Price and paymentThe written estimate, applicable charges and payment arrangement.
ChangesHow inventory or date changes should be reported and handled.
Shipment protectionThe relevant protection or valuation terms and reporting process.
Read other customers’ experiences

Read customer experiences and discuss your own move

Read customer reviews with attention to the work described: access, packing, communication and how questions were handled. Experiences from a similar move can be useful, but they do not replace a written agreement for your household.

Milvus is based in Waltham, Massachusetts. You can call 857-895-8955 to discuss the move or use the quote form below. Keep the same contact details and written booking information accessible before pickup and through delivery.

After the scope is agreed

Prepare for the booked work

  1. Finish the agreed packing

Keep personal essentials out of the shipment and label cartons by destination room.

  2. Confirm building access

Make sure keys, elevator reservations and loading arrangements are in place.

  3. Report material changes

Contact Milvus promptly if the inventory, access or date changes.

  4. Be ready for the handover

Choose the person who can answer questions and receive the belongings at the new home.

Questions before you book

A few more details

Have a different situation? Call 857-895-8955 and talk it through with Milvus.

Does filling out a quote form confirm my move?

A quote request starts the conversation. Confirm availability, the written scope and the required booking steps with Milvus before treating the move as booked.

Can I request packing and storage together?

Yes, describe both needs when requesting the quote. Explain which items need packing and when the destination can receive the shipment so the stages can be planned together.

Can I get a quote for a small move?

Send the actual item list and access details. The amount of work can differ from the apartment’s room count, especially for a few large or delicate pieces.

Where can I see the company’s reviews?

Open the Milvus reviews page or its public Google profile. Read the individual experiences and dates rather than relying only on a rating summary.
