The hourly portion
Multiply the applicable crew rate by the billable hours to understand that portion of the price. The calculator uses the hours you enter; it does not predict how long your home will take or establish the minimum booking. Confirm the date category and time rules with Milvus.
The packing budget
Supplies and packing labor are separate questions. Count what still needs preparation and identify fragile items. A materials package does not automatically cover the work of packing the apartment, furniture preparation, transport or unpacking at the next address.
The complete move
Use one inventory and the same requested services when obtaining estimates. Include stairs, elevator access, the truck-to-door carry, extra stops and storage if needed. Then check what is included, what is additional and which changes could alter the amount.

Discount, Regular, Subpeak, Peak and Highpeak are date categories. Ask which applies to your move. Minimum hours, billable travel, materials and additional services must be confirmed in your estimate.
For the date you choose, confirm the rate, minimum hours and how time is counted. Ask when billable travel starts and ends. Packing supplies, parking arrangements and other services should be identified rather than left outside the comparison.

These calculations illustrate crew-and-truck charges only. They are not quotes, predicted moving times or minimum bookings, and separate charges are excluded. Use the hours and services in your own estimate to calculate the expected total.
The hourly rate is one part of the cost
An hourly crew-and-truck rate tells you the price of one hour, not the cost of an apartment move. To estimate the total, you also need billable time, the agreed work and any separate charges.
Milvus rates vary by date category and crew size. A smaller job may suit two movers; more furniture or a difficult carry may call for a larger crew. Decide which crew fits the work before comparing hourly prices.
Long distance moves use route and inventory estimates instead. A Boston-to-New-York starting price should not be applied to a local move, and an hourly local rate cannot tell you the full cost of moving across the country.
The information that makes a quote useful
List furniture and approximate carton quantities, then check for omissions. Cellar storage, patio furniture, another pickup and disassembly can all affect the job. Add photos of large pieces when a room count would give the wrong impression.
Next, describe the carry at both addresses. A third-floor walk-up, a distant loading space or a booked elevator can change the work. Send this information with the inventory so the estimate reflects the move you expect.

Reduce the work before you compare prices
Sort and donate unwanted items before the inventory is finalized. Pack the boxes you have agreed to handle yourself, then label and close them before pickup. A clear path through the home helps the crew reach the furniture without stopping to rearrange loose belongings.
Flexible dates give you a reason to compare available rate categories. With a fixed date, focus on preparation and an accurate scope. Two hourly prices are hard to compare if only one quote includes packing.
For interstate budgeting, choose the actual destination from the long distance route directory. Compare the quoted inventory, delivery arrangement and protection terms alongside the starting price.
The details that matter
Compare a lower rate with the work behind it
A smaller crew has a lower hourly rate, but it is not automatically the least expensive way to complete every job. Handling large furniture, a long carry or several floors may affect the crew recommendation and time required. Ask Milvus to explain the team proposed for your inventory and access rather than selecting only the smallest number in the table.
You can often reduce the work by making decisions before the move: finish the packing you agreed to do, remove items you will not take, label rooms and provide accurate access instructions. Do not reduce the quoted inventory merely to obtain a lower figure. A useful estimate represents the move you actually intend to book, with travel, minimum time, materials and any other charges made clear.

What is the lowest published local rate?
The Discount category lists two movers and a truck at $110 per hour. Availability, applicable dates, minimum hours and other charges must be confirmed for your booking.
Do more movers always make a move cheaper?
No. A larger crew has a higher hourly rate and its usefulness depends on the job. Stairs, loading access and the amount of furniture influence how the work can be divided.
Does a bedroom count determine the price?
It gives a rough starting point. The actual inventory, access and services provide a much better basis for an estimate.
How do I compare two moving quotes?
Use the same addresses, date, inventory and packing request. Compare billable travel, minimum hours, materials, access charges and the stated service scope as well as the headline rate.
Is the calculator result a quote I can book?
No. It calculates the hourly portion using the rate and hours you select. It does not assess your inventory, predict duration or include every charge. Send the move details to Milvus for a service-specific estimate.
Why can the same apartment cost more on another date?
Milvus publishes different date categories. The applicable category changes the hourly rates for the same crew. Availability, the requested service and the conditions in your estimate still need review for the date you choose.
Should I leave out items I might sell?
Identify them as provisional, then update the inventory before booking or pickup as agreed. A quote is more useful when it reflects the items actually moving. Do not rely on an estimate for a smaller shipment after deciding to take more.
Can I compare local and interstate prices with this calculator?
The calculator is for the published local hourly rates. A move to another state needs its own route, service and delivery estimate. Use the long-distance pages to review route starting prices and request the appropriate quote.
