Disassembled furniture parts and packed boxes beside a protected sofa

How many hours does a flat-rate move include?

A flat-rate quote covers a defined move. It does not come with one standard number of hours for every household. Check the inventory, addresses, access and services that the quoted price includes.

  • Agreed inventory and addresses
  • Packing and access included in scope
  • Changes discussed before the move
Start with the scopeAsk which work is covered, then discuss the expected schedule.
Two pricing methods

Is your move priced by time or by scope?

An hourly local move

The crew rate and applicable billed time determine labor charges. Confirm the rate, how time is measured, travel arrangements and any minimum or additional charges.

A flat-rate move

The price is based on a stated scope. Review the inventory, route and services, including the access assumptions and what happens if those details change.

Read the scope

The items your quote should make clear

  • Inventory

Furniture, approximate box count and unusual items. Identify items requiring disassembly or special protection.

  • Locations and access

Pickup, delivery and any extra stops, plus stairs, elevators and loading distance.

  • Included work

Packing, materials, storage or other services if requested. Avoid assuming that an unlisted service is included.

  • Timing and changes

Pickup arrangements, delivery planning and the process for revising the scope. Discuss waiting time or access delays where relevant.

Changed plans

A fixed price needs a defined set of assumptions

What changesWhat to discuss with Milvus
More furniture or boxesWhether the existing quote still covers the inventory and truck requirements.
An added storage stopThe extra loading, travel and any receiving restrictions.
Unfinished packingAdditional packing labor, materials and availability.
Different stairs or a lost elevator slotThe handling plan and whether the revised access changes the estimate.
Plan the day

A price and an arrival window answer different questions

Ask about the expected duration and delivery arrangements even when the move has a fixed price. You still need to coordinate keys, building access and someone authorized to receive the shipment.

For an interstate move, driving time alone is not a delivery promise. Confirm the agreed pickup and delivery arrangements with Milvus and keep the written estimate and move documents.

Questions before you book

A few more details

Have a different situation? Call 857-895-8955 and talk it through with Milvus.

Does flat rate mean unlimited packing and carrying?

No. It covers the work described in the quote. Packing, access and other handling should be stated explicitly.

Can I compare two flat-rate quotes by price alone?

Compare the inventory and included services first. Different assumptions about packing, stairs, storage or delivery can make the totals describe different moves.

What if the move takes longer than expected?

Review the agreed terms with Milvus. The reason for the additional work or delay and the written scope matter; do not assume an automatic hourly surcharge or unlimited extra service.
